Helen Mullender - Clarinet and Saxophone
Helen started to develop her musical interests at the age of 8 playing the
recorder. She soon progressed to clarinet and piano, and passed her Grade 8 with
distinction in Year 10. Helen gained a place at the Junior Department of the
Guildhall School of Music in London and studied under Professor Anton Weinberg
for three years. At this time she also added saxophone and flute to her
instrumental interests. After her A levels, Helen studied for four years at
Trinity College of music, and gained an LTCL (TD) and FTCL qualification. Helen
has performed extensively in theatre productions, orchestras, jazz groups,
woodwind ensembles and bands, and has toured Holland, Belgium, Germany and
Algeria. Helen has continued to perform and teach woodwind since leaving Music
College, and currently also delivers curriculum music to KS1 and KS2. She has
been Musical Director for numerous school productions and leads a choir and
recorder club.
