The Woodwind family consists of Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon and Saxophone.  There are larger and smaller versions of some of these instruments such as the Piccolo, Bass Clarinet, Cor Anglais and Tenor Saxophone.

Woodwind instruments often play in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, pop and folk.

If you learnt a woodwind instrument, it might be possible for you to join the First and Middle Schools' Orchestras and the Middle Schools' Flute Ensemble.  As you progressed through to The Thomas Hardye School, you could join the THS Orchestra, THS Concert Band, THS Big Band, Flautissimo, Ebonics and Saxophonics.
